Finding Relief With Meditation

I would like to take you beyond the limits of your customary thoughts and experiences. This new way of life begins with two questions that are very simple. The first question is would I want this to be true: "Every event that will befall me is absolutely the best possible event that could occur." Meditate before answering this so that you can think about it with a clear mind and answer it truthfully. The second question is the more difficult part,is to truthfully answer this question: Will I give that a chance to be true?

Imagine using meditation that God has appeared before you this instant and said: "I promise you that everything that happens to you from this moment forward will be of the greatest benefit to you and will bring you the utmost good fortune," Suppose God went on to tell you,"Even though what happens will appear at times unfortunate or even hurtful,in the end your life will be wonderfully blessed and hugely benefited by whatever may happen to you.Stop and meditate. How would you feel about that wonderful news? Happy? Perhaps you may even be filled with joy.

So,again, while you meditate ask yourself wouldn't that be the best piece of news you could hear? If you are willing to give this new concept a chance and actually believe that everything that happens to you will happen for a reason. When thinking about anything,to get a great deal of relief just clear your mind and meditate about the good things that are to come to you in the future. Meditation can be much better than medication and you might just be real surprised how much better you will begin feeling after practicing it for awhile.

Salad topped with... French Fries?

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Pittsburgh. For those of you who’ve never been, everything, and I mean everything is topped with French fries, including salad! When my salad arrived topped with crispy fries, the chef in me thought, “Delicious.” The nutrition coach in me thought, “Uh, oh.” What to do? I decided to use the experience to replicate a Pittsburgh style salad at home with a healthy twist. Here’s what I did. I tossed a typical garden salad with grilled chicken, a sprinkle of crumbled low fat cheddar cheese, a drizzle of low fat ranch dressing, chopped boiled egg whites (I omitted the yolks to keep the fat content low) and topped it with oven baked fries (see your Recipe Tab for my signature way of doing it!). I finally sprinkled cracked black pepper over the whole thing. I must say that that the healthy version was just as great as the Pittsburgh style version. My Pittsburgh Style Salad with a Twist is coming soon to your Recipe Tab!

Don't Have Time to Spare? It's Still Possible to Achieve Your Goals...

As nutrition experts, the number one concern we hear is, “I just don’t have time to eat right and work out.”  The truth is, no matter who you are, there are 24 hours in the day, and lucky for us making your health a priority doesn’t have to take up all of them!  In fact, reaching your personal goals can be simple and fast, with the time-saving game plan below.

No time for the gym?  No problem.   Even just 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise, at least 4 days a week will burn fat and improve your health.  Try sneaking in an early morning walk before you start the workday to kick start your metabolism.  With a routine like that, you’ll instantly begin to feel energized and you won’t have to worry about finding the time to work out later in the day.   You could pack your sneakers in a gym bag for work and take a brisk walk on your lunch break; it’s a proven way to beat the stress on a hectic day.  Another option is instead of watching TV after dinner, take a walk with a friend or spouse.  Finally, if getting out of the house is out of the question, you can try a 30 minute workout video that allows you to keep an eye on your family and still get your heart pumping.

Eating healthy can be fast and easy!  When some people hear that they should eat 5 to 6 times a day, they begin to worry that there just isn’t enough time to do that while keeping their schedule in tact.  Ask anyone who eats right, even the busiest of individuals, and they’ll tell you that with a little planning it’s simple to get your meals in!  Here’s what to do.

  1. Spend only an hour a week to prepare easy and high quality food in bulk like grilled or baked chicken breasts, vegetables and brown rice. This way you can easily toss these ingredients into a number of dishes for fast meals on the go.
  2. Pack your meals and snacks each night so you can grab and go in the morning.

Here’s a Sample Day’s Meal Plan that even the busiest individual can follow (Quick Tip: Space your meals about 3 to 4 hours apart to keep your blood sugar steady):

Meal 1 - Eggs and whole grain toast and fruit (quick tip: for fast breakfast ideas, see your Recipe Tab)

Meal 2 - Protein bar

Meal 3 - Turkey Sandwich on wheat bread with a slice of cheese

Meal 4 - Mango Meal Replacement Shake - this is available in our online store more info >>

Meal 5 - Grilled fish with veggies and brown rice

Meal 6 - String cheese and fruit

See how easy it is? For example, if you work out of the home and followed the meal plan listed above, all you’d need to do is wake up 10 minutes earlier to eat a quick breakfast. To move efficiently in the morning we recommend preparing Meals 2, 3 and 4 the night before. Simply wrap your sandwich, pack a protein bar, put some protein powder in a drink shaker and you are good to go. All you’ll need to do is add water to the shaker just before it’s time to eat that meal.

Drinking enough water doesn’t have to be time consuming. Getting in your recommended water intake each day is easy if you make sure to have a water bottle with you throughout the day. Also, keep a bottle in the car and at your desk at work. It’s that easy.
